All teachers working at the Department of Translation Studies, FA, CPU in Nitra have a lot of translation and interpreting experience and participate in significant local and international research projects in the field of translation and interpreting studies, computer linguistics, machine or audiovisual translation, etc.
Master’s study programmes in translation and interpreting FA CPU were awarded the international quality certificate European Master’s in Translation (EMT), adding our master’s studies to the network of the highest quality translation studies programmes among European universities entitled to use the label and logo EMT.
We follow the rich tradition of theoretical research in translation studies in Nitra going back to the 1970s and 1980s. At that time, Nitra was already well known in the field of translation studies both in Slovakia and abroad thanks to Professor Anton Popovič and his colleagues from the Institute of Literary Communication at the former Pedagogical Faculty in Nitra.
An online discussion with translator Veronika Maťúšová was held on 1 March 2022. She introduced students to the translation of one of the most famous works of contemporary French prose, Petit pays (Little Country), by the French-Rwandan author Gaël Faye into Slovak.
Following the transition to face-to-face education (since 7 March 2022), the Department of Translation Studies FA CPU Nitra will provide access to education also to students who are unable to participate in face-to-face classes due to objective reasons caused by the military conflict in Ukraine.
The Department of Translation Studies FA CPU in Nitra is opening a call for volunteers to help people arriving from Ukraine.

The 10th year of the conference Tradition and Innovation in Translation Studies Research: Translation and Interpreting at Crossroads for PhD. students and young researchers was held on 9-10 February 2022 at the Department of Translation Studies CPU in Nitra.

It was in this spirit that a prestigious international meeting of members of the European Masters’ in Translation of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation took place on 20-21 October 2021 at the University of Leipzig.
Slovakia has been a member of the European Union since 2004, but even today, the functioning of various European institutions is for many people confusing, unclear or distant. In order to bring the legislative procedures and processes closer to younger people, an international simulation Model European Union Strasbourg (MEUS) has been held annually in the European Parliament in Strasbourg since 2007.
