Nearly 400 Registered Participants from 54 Countries

The From Translation to Accessibility: EMT Train the Trainer Summer School saw participation by nearly 400 participants from not only Europe, but also Australia, Argentine, Brasil, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Peru, Katar, Saudi Arabia, USA, Venezuela, China, and Singapore. Thus it became a professional event with one of the largest number of participants from around the world organized by the university to date.

The Department of Translation Studies FA CPU in Nitra as the main initiator has in collaboration with the Kaunas University of Technology, Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto, Università degli studi Internazionali di Roma, University of Vienna, and the University of Antwerp prepared for the international community a series of workshops aimed at education in the field of audiovisual translation and media accessibility. The workshops were intended to reflect current technological trends in the field and media practice. The first year had the subtitle Technologies and practices in AVT and media accessibility training took place on the 4th of June 2021 online due to the ongoing pandemic situation. The event was financially supported by the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commision, allowing the event to be avialable to participants free of charge. The event included simultaneous interpreting into Slovak, live audio transcription for viewers with impaired hearing, and audio-descriptions for participants with impaired sight.

The event will next be held in 2023 at the Università degli studi Internazionali di Roma once again in collaboration with the Department of Translation Studies FA CPU in Nitra.
