Edita Gromová is a professor at the Department of Translation Studies, the Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher University, Nitra. She received her Master´s Degree in Translation and Interpreting (English, Russian) from Comenius University, Bratislava in 1977. In 1990 she started teaching translation at the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher University, Nitra. In 1995 she gained a PhD at Comenius University, Bratislava, in 1999 became  associate professor and in 2005 professor. Her main research interests are translation studies, translation theory and didactics. She has participated in many research projects on translation studies in Slovakia and abroad. She is author of numerous publications in the field of translation studies and translation pedagogy including Interpretácia v procese prekladu (Interpretation in the Translation Process) in 1996 and Teória a didaktika prekladu (Translation Theory and Didactics) in 2003, co-author of Kultúra – Interkulturalita –Translácia (Culture – Interculturality – Translation) in 2005 and Translatologické reflexie (Translatological Reflections) in 2005. She is author of teaching materials and coursebooks Kapitoly z úvodu do prekladateľstva (Chapters from the Introduction to Translation Studies, 1998, 2000) and Úvod do translatológie (Introduction to Translation Studies, 2009). She has become member of editorial boards of two journals indexed in SCOPUS (XLinguae – European Language Journal, Topics in Linguistics), and two other journals Vertimo Studijos (Vilnius University) and Kritika prekladu (UMB, Banská Bystrica). In 1998-2014 she became a vice-chairperson of The Slovak Society of Translators of Scientific and Technical Literature (SSPOL) and in 2011 a representative of Constantine the Philosopher University in the European Master´s in Translation (EMT) Network at the Directorate-General for Translation, the European Commission, in 2011-2014 being a member of the EMT Network Board.
