Profile:

In her didactic and scientific research activities, she focuses primarily on specialised translation (translation of legal texts), specialised language, intercultural communication, terminology and terminological work, stylistics of the contemporary German language and text linguistics. As regards translation of legal texts, she primarily deals with the concept of linguistic pluricentrism and diatopic variety of German.

Since 2005 she has been a certified translator in the German-Slovak language combination.

She has completed 3-year complementary studies (intercultural German studies – German studies – political science) at the University of Bayreuth (Germany) and several short- and long-term study, lecture and research stays at renowned foreign universities and educational institutions (Cologne, Munich, Düsseldorf, Bremen, Passau, Chemnitz, Tübingen, Vienna, Kazan, Sofia, Ljubljana, Zadar, Krakau, etc.).

She is the author of numerous scientific publications published in Slovakia and abroad and is the responsible researcher or member of researching team of several international and domestic projects (KEGA, VEGA, APVV, Action Austria-Slovakia, etc.).

For the monograph Theoretisch-pragmatische Reflexionen zur interlingualen Übersetzung ausgewählter Textsorten des Strafprozessrechts (Deutsch-Slowakisch). Translatologie. Studien zur Übersetzungswissenschaft; Band 27, Verlag Dr. Kovač, 2020, she was awarded the Rector’s Prize for scientific, artistic and other creative activity in the category of monographic work. She received the Rector’s Award for Internationally Accepted Publication Activity for original scientific and professional publications registered in the Web of Knowledge and Scopus databases in 2023, 2022, 2018/2019, 2015/2016 and 2012/2013.

The project Collaborative creation of terminological databases using Web 2.0 technologies (KEGA No. 030UKF-4/2013), in which she participated as a responsible researcher, was awarded the Certificate of Excellence of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. One of the outputs of the project in the context of Slovak university education is a unique terminological online database TRANSTERM, intended for educational purposes and promotion of diploma theses dealing with terminology. 

She is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal Slowakische Zeitschrift für Germanistik (SZfG) and the editorial board of the scientific journal Translatologia.

She holds the position of Director of the Institute of Interpreting at the Faculty of Arts in Nitra. She is actively involved in the professional educational activities of the Institute and is regularly nominated by the Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic as the chairperson of the examination committees for the professional examinations of translators and interpreters in the German-Slovak language combination.

She also acts as an external examiner for the final examinations of the Kommunaldolmetschen Basiskurs, Uni for Life, University of Graz (Austria).

She actively cooperates with Karpatenblatt, the magazine of Carpathian Germans in Slovakia, the Goethe Institute in Bratislava and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Bratislava as regards educational activities, literary readings and translation projects. In 2021, she coordinated professional translation of the information brochure Antirassismus - Toleranz ist der Hammer, in which students of the Department of Translation Studies in Nitra participated (https://karpatenblatt.sk/infomaterialien-zum-thema-diskriminierung-nun-auch-auf-slowakisch/).

She is a member of the Slovak Society of Translators of Scientific and Technical Literature (SSPOL), the Union of Interpreters and Translators (JTP - Czech Republic), the terminological association Deutscher Terminologietag e.V. (Germany), the international association of Germanists Mitteleuropäischer Germanistenverband (Austria), the scientific society Gesellschaft für Sprache und Sprachen e.V. (GeSuS) (Germany), and the Association of Teachers of German and Germanists of Slovakia (SUNG).
