The Department of Translation Studies invited Peter Kopecký, a renowned court translator, interpreter, university professor and former ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Slovakia in Romania, to give a lecture on 8 November 2023. Prof. Kopecký talked about the historic context of Slovak diplomacy, his own diplomatic mission in Romania and also explained some of the overlaps between the work of a translator and interpreter with diplomatic service. This interesting talk provided a platform for students to ask further questions and compare their theoretical knowledge gained during their Diplomatic Communication lectures with practical situations.
