The Department of Translation Studies, in cooperation with the European Commission, organised on June 10, 2021 an online presentation dedicated to the translation software Trados. The software was presented by translators from the Slovak Translation Unit of the European Commission, Jana Tomašcová, who works as a quality coordinator, and Matej Vlačiha, an expert on translation technologies.

Emília Andrejová from the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia was also one of the co-organisers. Together, they introduced students to the basic functions of the Trados software, which is currently a very important tool in translator’s job.

The presentation focused mainly on how to work efficiently and quickly in Trados, while producing adequate translation and how to use translation memories and terminological databases when translating. We believe that students have reinforced their knowledge of this translation tool so that they can soon use it in practice.
